Which countries are doing the most to stop dangerous global warming?
In November, nearly 200 countries meet in Paris for UN talks to agree a new climate deal. Find out how pledges compare in The Guardian’s in-depth analysis of 13 key countries and blocs: EU, Japan, Russia, US, Canada, Australia, Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Ethiopia, Mexico, and Morocco.

Thanks for updating and sharing the Guardian article, Rosaliene! Both the per capita and overall basis for carbon are relevant.

You’re welcome, Cicorm. If our international leaders cannot come up with a workable and fair deal for all countries, rich and poor, our future is sealed.

Looks like they are writing on a stone tablet. I hope our descendants, assuming we have any, don’t find this relic in the ruins. I’m reminded of a joke told by “Father Guido Sarducci,” a Saturday Night Live character of years ago. He claimed to be selling church relics, one of which as a menu from the Last Supper. 😉

Your last comment made me laugh, Dr. Stein 🙂
The discovery of the 1992 stone tablet would make an interesting opening for a sci-fi novel set in 2115.

New Zealand’s conservative government has been embarrassingly obstructionistic as regards the Paris climate change conference. The pledge they have is to achieve CO2 emissions that are 11% above the 1990 level – and they’re lobbying to make emission reduction targets non-binding.

Jeanne, thanks for sharing the situation in New Zealand. It’s tough when the future of life on Earth depends upon the cooperation of ALL countries. Even the various factions of our governments often have trouble working together.
I do believe that this is humanity’s greatest challenge.
