A Warrior of the Light knows that certain moments repeat themselves.
He often finds himself faced by the same problems and situations, and seeing these difficult situations return, he grows depressed, thinking that he is incapable of making any progress in life.
“I’ve been through all this before,” he says to his heart.
“Yes, you have been through all this before,” replies his heart. “But you have never been beyond it.”
Then the Warrior realizes that these repeated experiences have but one aim: to teach him what he does not want to learn.

I’d view the “problems and situations” the author refers to a bit differently. I do not take him literally when he states that the repeated experiences “have but one aim.” These inevitable events to not have a mind. We continue to view many of them as towering problems, however, only so long as we haven’t mastered them. They do provide us (without intention) of an opportunity: to grow.

Dr. Stein, thanks for sharing your thoughts on Coelho’s note about learning and growing from repeated negative experiences. His work comes from a spiritual perspective.

While I appreciate the perspective, he therefore would also have to explain the events that maim and kill, etc: the old theodicy question.

Thank you for sharing!!.. “Every single thing that has ever happened in your life is preparing you for a moment that is yet to come”. ( Author Unknown)… 🙂
Until we meet again..
May your spirit only know peace
May your heart only know love
May all your dreams come true
May your life’s journey be filled with happiness
And life is all that you wish for it to be….

Dutch, the quote from an unknown author is so true. While I’ve been preparing for the likelihood that one or all three of us could become infected, I’m also working at staying calm. As I reminded my older son yesterday, the three of us have lived through three health crises, each one affecting one of us.
Stay safe ❤

You, and your family, stay safe also!.. your courageous efforts to help make this world a better place serves as a inspiration to many and the light of hope would dim if you were not present…. 🙂
Until we meet again..
May the dreams you hold dearest
Be those which come true
May the kindness you spread
Keep returning to you

Unfortunately the manmade virus is ruining the world. Political crisis will never let hymen’s live a normal life.

Laleh, thanks for dropping by 🙂
COVID-19 is not a man-made virus. Virologists and infectious disease experts have confirmed that they have enough evidence the virus is brand new and came from nature.
Please clarify your use of the word “hymen.”

Same thing applies to Trump (the Warrior of the Dark): “to teach him what he does not want to learn.”

MisterMuse, I doubt that the “Warrior of the Dark” is capable of learning from our current health emergency. After all, he lives in an alternate reality where he can manipulate facts and the truth to suit his ends.

No doubt. Even if the coronavirus penetrated his body, it could never penetrate his ego.

Ah, yes. those lessons we don’t want to learn. The ones where we’re forced go kicking and screaming. Once again, humanity is being humbled by natural forces and even our modern technologies are struggling to keep up. Wishing you and your sons good health during these times.

Henry, thanks for the wishes of good health. I wish the same to you and your loved ones ❤
Until we humans stop encroaching on the natural habitats of non-human species, we will continue to become infected with wildlife pathogens for which we have no natural immunity.

Hi Rosaliene. Two things that strike me as particularly odd in this excerpt. The writer seems to call himself a “warrior of the light” – a questionable term at the best of times, IMO, then makes two observations that, again IMO, denies that he even understands what the term “warrior of the light” means.
Quote: “…seeing these difficult situations return, he grows depressed,” A warrior of the light simply does not – EVER – entertain depression, that being a complete contradiction.
Quote: “…realizes that these repeated experiences have but one aim: to teach him what he does not want to learn.” Again a total contradiction: there is nothing, absolutely NOTHING that a warrior of the light would be unwilling to learn. In fact, “learning” which equates growth in awareness, is what such a being lives for.
Perhaps that is why I stopped reading “self help” books a long time ago. Most are written by people with no real life experience who publish at best, confusion, at worst, outright lies. The best seller, “The Secret” comes to mind at the moment…

Sha’Tara, in the prologue of his book, the author defines the Warrior of the Light as “someone capable of understanding the miracle of life, of fighting to the last for something he believes in–and of hearing the bells that the waves set ringing on the seabed… Everyone is capable of these things. And, though, no one thinks of himself as a Warrior of the Light, we all are.“

Profound. Yes while like all warriors, we are relying on the powerful message This Too Shall Pass, I truly hope, we come out having learnt and accepted a lot more than before.

The teacher does not give up on us and wants us to learn well, to grow beyond…. It’s an adventure I’m not always up for, but sometimes I am. Still, the lessons keep on coming, even if the lesson is to rest a while.

JoAnna, judging from news coming out of Wuhan and Italy, our “rest a while” will not be one without great challenges of heroism and neighborliness.

Dear Laleh, thanks for the nomination. It’s an honor that I accept with a humble heart ❤
I don't usually participate in nomination events, but make exception this time since I believe that the future of life on our planet depends upon us, the women of the world. I will take some time to respond in accordance to the rules of the nomination process as I ponder my nominees from among the amazing women in our WordPress community worldwide.

I love Paul Coelo’s books I had not read this one – I will have to get it today.

Kate, I was living in Brazil when it was first published (Rio de Janeiro, 1997). The manual was a great source of inspiration and encouragement during my struggle to raise my sons as a working mom and sole-provider. Coelho reminded me that in my weaknesses, I can find my strength.

I think this speaks volumes on where the world is, collectively. We’ve all been here before and this is why we’ll continue to meet each other in the same space, with a new challenge. We are not collectively getting the point.
