“Hitler may have lost the war on the battlefield, but he ended up winning something too,” says Marek Halter, “because man in the twentieth century created the concentration camp and revived torture and taught his fellow men that it is possible to close their eyes to the misfortunes of others.”
Perhaps he is right: There are abandoned children, massacred civilians, innocent people imprisoned, lonely old people, drunks in the gutter, madmen in power.
But perhaps he isn’t right at all, for there are also Warriors of the Light.
And Warriors of the Light never accept what is unacceptable.

I read The Alchemist years ago but this title is new to me. Thank you, Rosaliene, the title of the book draws my attention & just whilst reading here I see an older post of yours “Silent Warrior” which I must read. 💓🤗🙋♂️

My pleasure, Ashley 🙂 “Warrior of the Light” is not his latest book, but remains one of my top favorites.

How a bad guy like Hitler could have such power is a question we avoid in our history books. Or have any of us read that Henry Ford, for example, supported him with $50,000 a month? (which was a lot of money back then). Or who else were the people pulling the strings behind the scenes?
I think I’ve mentioned the great Frank Zappa’s phrase before: “Politics is the entertainment division of the military industrial complex.”

Friedrich, we may never know the names of all of Hitler’s supporters. Still, we continue to slaughter each other.

Looks like a good recommendation Rosaliene. It is hard to believe that many still try to sanitize the history of what happened. Have a good Sunday. Allan

Allan, it’s one of my favorite books by Paulo Coelho. I know not the reasoning of those who choose to live in denial than accept the human capacity for atrocities.

The world needs at least a billion more Warriors of the Light than there currently are.

I agree, Neil. More so, as so many of them are being imprisoned or killed for simply speaking out.

Hard to believe it but there are many warriors of light out there. Like you and all those protestors at the colleges and I could go on and on.

Mara, thanks for mentioning the protestors at our colleges. I had them in mind when I selected this passage.

There have always been evil men happy to do terrible things to gain and sustain power. There have always been people who don’t subscribe to or accept that kind of thing for themselves or for the people around them.
Yin and Yang, played out largely in life.
Thankfully we still get to protest, to stand up for what is right, and not forced to go along.

Our sad reality of coexistence with the evil among us, Tamara. If our protestations, even at the highest level of the United Nations, mean nothing in stopping the slaughter of women and children, I’m forced to accept my powerlessness and complicity. I ask myself: How many more people have to die before our voices are heard?

Unfortunately probably thousands more. All we can do is just keep radiating outward with love, kindness and support for others! We get to choose not to be part of the problem!

The Warrior of the Light radiates “love, kindness and support for others” and is “not…part of the problem.” Thanks, Tamara ❤

Thanks for the excerpt of this 2003 Coelho book. Looks like an important read. This is a key time for Warriors of the Light. May we support those in this struggle or be them ourselves.

Rebecca, without a doubt, our Warriors of the Light are much needed at this time.

Warriors of the Light got eliminated! The likes of Burkina Faso’s Thomas Sankara, former Zaire’s Patrice Lumumba and Lybia’s Gaddafi.

Thanks for calling attention to this reality, Zet Ar. Several other leaders worldwide have also suffered such a fate. In Guyana, we lost our Warrior of Light, the historian/political activist Dr. Walter Rodney (1942-1980).

My pleasure, JoAnna 🙂 In this book, Coelho shows us the challenges we face as flawed individuals in doing good in an imperfect world.

The Alchemist is one of my favorite books, and so to see this introduction and recommendation from you here is special… Thank you. Powerful quote, and so relevant for the world today. I look forward to this read. Warriors of Light ~ so perfect.

You’re welcome, Randall. The “Warrior of the Light: A Manual” is an inspirational companion to “The Alchemist.” Each short passage in this manual “invites us to live out our dreams, to embrace the uncertainty of life, and to rise to our own unique destiny” (quote from the inside jacket of book).
