The Pyramid of Capitalist System
The pyramid
primordial mound
rising from the depths
ancient tomb of pharaohs
reflective sides mirroring the sun
gateway to the heavens beyond the earth
transforming the soul for its union with the gods.
The pyramid
tomb of the masses
forever trapped in its base
herded, cajoled & discarded
struggle, fight & kill each other
to sustain the few at the top of the pyre
bloated with their contempt, gorging on human flesh.
The pyramid
legacy of an ancient civilization
points to the heavens, the expanding universe
beyond the limits of our small finite world
to the full realization of our true being
a limitless spirit, capable of the impossible
together as one, sharing the gifts of the earth.

I’d seen that one before, but a good reminder. “Viva la revoluçion!”

Sha’Tara, when I went in search of an illustration for my poem, I was also reminded how little the capitalist pyramid system had changed in our own times. I erred in not reading the article posted on the Evolutionary Economics website.

There is a huge misconception among the more “intelligent” members of the man species that “man” has greatly evolved in the last couple of centuries due to industrialization, greater public education and the phenomenall rise of technology. The exact opposite has, and is, happening. Man has been brainwashed, lied to, conned and spiritually and mentally enslaved to systems and machines. The leaders are little Darth Vaders, the rest are robotic storm troopers.

Rosalienne,
I checked out Evolutionary Economics and commented there. It is long and insightful, but it left me questioning the assumption that the masses are victims of oppressors, especially in the current age. I believe we are only as oppressed as we allow ourselves to be, through passive acceptance of the “overhead” of overbearing, self-righteous control freaks who derive their so-called power through laws and the taxes we all pay to sustain them.
I don’t believe in paying people to boss me around. Do you?

Katharine, I didn’t read the article on Evolutionary Economics, I was simply giving credit to the source of the illustration. It was not my intention to promote the ideas presented in the article. My mistake.
Regarding your question: Our taxes pay the wages of our government representatives, police force, military services, and other public service workers. When they oppress us, we are in reality paying them to do so.

My point exactly. We are also paying for another army of no-bid government contractors. Even the Army Corps of Engineers uses private contractors to design and build their projects.
One of the largest government contractors, Bechtel, has a huge presence at Oak Ridge Labs, one of the places responsible for the first nuclear bombs. Bechtel is privately held, so totally outside public oversight.

Man has chosen spiritual, mental and physical slavery over self-empowerment. That is a choice. There was enough information distributed among the species for it to make the proper choice – it refused to do so and now it has to pay the price for choosing the wrong path. The earth has never seen anything like the next 500 years are going to demonstrate of man’s capacity for utter inhumane brutality. The 20th century was the turning point. It’s warring, revolutionary and genocidal terror, including the invention of nuclear weaponry was to tell mankind it was time to end it and choose compassion as a way of life on planet earth. Those who tried to point the way were killed. Evil, in the form of money, took over all the “high” places and man’s spirit died and his mind was corrupted by greed, lust and irresponsibility.

Beware of making predictions, especially of predicting futures you don’t want. We’re not dead yet, so there’s still hope we will evolve beyond the past.
I agree man has chosen slavery, economic slavery, over freedom. The US Constitution codifies the government’s attitude that all taxpayers are federal government property. It offers no value in return for the wealth it steals, yet taxpayers have willingly accepted the shackles for over 200 years.
No woman signed the Constitution, or the Declaration of Independence, and there’s nothing in it to prevent individuals from seceding.
If the US continues on this path, I’m seriously considering renouncing my citizenship and becoming an unaffiliated citizen of the planet.

“Unaffiliated citizen of the planet” As an unaffiliated citizen of the cosmos, I like that thought. Self-empowerment: good!

I’ve made a life of being self-empowered and have taken a lot of heat for it. Government creep into my personal life–let me count the ways–has made me ever more determined to resist (but not fight) the bullies and cons who would move in and take over.
Have you noticed how the word “fight” has become so prevalent in our culture? I see the populace becoming ever more passive aggressive and passive resistant to self-appointed external authority.

So overwhelmed with emotions
I cry
invisible tears
I do not weep
with anger
nor hate nor fear and flight
just awed by so much
incubations of chicane
overcrowded sadness
ocean deep
machinations at every turnstile
as we mount
stairs in our lives.
