Alex Pretti & Renee Good – Killed in Cold Blood – Minneapolis – Minnesota – USA – January 2026
Mother, the situation has gotten out of control among the members of our fractured collective American family. Father is not well. Without you around to rein in his worst instincts, he acts like a vengeful god, punishing those who don’t obey his commandments or kneel before him. He cannot tolerate independent thinking. Even a simple “no” enrages him. Nowadays, if you defy him, he doesn’t hesitate to leave you out in the cold to be trampled upon by his goons. If you die at their hands, he blames you for putting yourself in harm’s way.
Our siblings who enable Father’s tyrannical rule are shameless, feckless, and spineless. Big Brother is the worst of them all—he’s truly creepy. Mother, you wouldn’t recognize the man he has become. He and the other enablers seek only to remain in Father’s favor and share in the spoils of his vast business empire. Father says that the only limit to his power is his own morality. I’m afraid to even consider what he means by that.
I wish you were here, Mother.
Father has now turned his wrath towards our siblings in Minneapolis. I know what that’s like. We were the first to feel his ire when he sent his goons to Los Angeles last year. Our siblings in Minneapolis made the mistake of showing solidarity towards their law-abiding immigrant neighbors who are under siege. Father’s goons cannot tolerate that they’re blowing whistles in the streets to alert every one of their presence. By recording smartphone videos, they’re also bearing witness of their non-white neighbors being snatched from their homes, schools, churches, and workplaces. Even the little ones are not spared.
You would be proud of our siblings in Minneapolis, Mother. They even deliver food to immigrant families scared to leave their homes. Despite freezing conditions and risks to their safety, they show up every day in the streets. What proof that goodness still flows through the hearts of our fractured family.
The news gets worse, Mother. Father’s goons—armed thugs, hiding behind masks—are operating with impunity. Their lawlessness is terrifying. They’ve killed two of our siblings in cold blood…in broad daylight—our sister and mother, Renee Good, and our brother and Veterans Affairs ICU nurse, Alex Pretti. I’m hurting, Mother. I know you did all you could to prevent such a tragedy. I salute them. They are everyday heroes.
Mother, what do we tell our adult kids who don’t understand what has happened to Grandpapa? Some still worship him. Some are angry. Some fear him. Some hate and despise him. Some have cut ties with him and family members who support him. As for me, Mother, my only recourse is a plea to Father’s better angels—whatever is left of his morality.
Is this what we’ve come to after almost 250 years of establishing our collective family in these lands? We have lost our way. What now?
I wish you were here, Mother. I miss your fairness, kindness, and openness.
You are right about big brother

Yes, even your siblings across the water can see that big brother isn’t going to give up his power easily. It is frightening turning on the news and seeing what he has got up to next. Nobody should be afraid to live their lives, without fear they are going to be attacked.

On Friday night the Minnesota Orchestra opened its concert with the Adagietto from Gustav Mahler’s 5th Symphony, dedicated to Good and Pretti. It is on YouTube.

I am so sick of #47s constant churn and attempts to corrupt the government and control the people. At what point do the safeguards put in place by the Founding Fathers start to protect the people and democracy? Now that he has pulled all the legs of the Greenland spider, it looks like Canada is on the menu. Yay. I have so recently dealt with the antics of a narcissist, I know they never go quietly. Have a peaceful day Roasliene. Allan

Allan, Father has developed the art of sucking up all the air in the room. It’s exhausting. This is a well organized assault, years in the making, launched by Big Brother. I’m so sorry that our friends in Canada are also caught in their power grab.

This is an extraordinary, gut-wrenching post, Rosaliene. It really says it all about T###p’s America. Thank you.

Father has no better angels. And those best positioned to do an intervention are ill-suited for this moment, old and out of touch with our harsh realities, as they wring their hands and feign powerlessness. It’s on us. We have always been all we’ve got.
Solidarity, Rosaliene.

I continue to live in hope, Tracy. Miracles do happen. I see it happening on the streets of Minneapolis. It takes times like these for we the people to find our power. Solidarity.

Yes, absolutely in awe of the people in the streets in Minnesota and elsewhere! The power is and always has been with the people, and we are finding our way. Solidarity.

It seems we have quite a few evil “fathers” and a few evil “mothers” at the helm leading us right down the drain, Rosaliene, and the tragic death of these two heroes, very unfortunately, is the cost of resistance. I was talking to a family member who supports the evil “father” you’re referring to and was saying she loves his policies. She also inferred she only reads independent media. I, as usual, was at a loss of words until much later when I thought of all kinds of questions and counter points. Anyhow, I’m rambling, but I think my point is we must find a way of destroying the duopoly narrative so we can unite against the real enemy instead of pointing fingers at each other. Time to make some queue cards…I’ll be ready next time.

You’re so right, Mara. We have lots of sisters/mothers in his camp, willing to do whatever he demands. The Mother in my piece symbolizes Lady Liberty. I agree that we’ve got to stop pointing fingers at each other. Divisiveness is part of their plan for achieving power and dominance.

Lady Liberty is a great metaphor. She’s been crying for years.

Neil, I would rather believe that he was as beautiful a baby as any other. It’s the circumstances of one’s upbringing that make all the difference in the person we become later in life.

Rebecca, it’s unbelievable the amount of taxpayers’ funds that are going towards this lawless army of enforcers.

Amen, Rosaliene. Corruption on every level. The only thing I know how to do is pray desperately.

I also believe in the power of prayer, Mary. We can also support our neighbors under attack in a number of ways.

Rosaliene, I commend you for appealing to the maternal instinct that supports and nurtures all. Earth. Life couldn’t have been created without two dynamic forces in harmony. This reminds me of the Hindu belief system, which shows Shiva and Shakti in a cosmic dance of creation. I make no claim of religious preference, but I do like the image of the partnership of male and female together holding the cosmos intact.

Thanks very much, Katharine. More than ever, we need the partnership of male and female to restore balance among our warring siblings.

Writing this way about Mother and Father is very moving. Like Katherine, I thought of Mother Earth and the sacred feminine. Lady Liberty makes sense, too. She is still here somewhere but overwhelmed in this terribly dysfunctional family. The evil sickness of “Father” does not seem likely to get better. I don’t think he can hear his better angels. Still, as you mentioned, miracles do happen. I think our hope lies mostly in the we the people being persistent, but nonviolent and government representatives who have supported “Father” listening to their better angels. Thank you for recognizing Alex and Renee as heroes. Thank you for this powerful writing, Rosaliene.

Thanks very much, JoAnna. Mother Earth and the sacred feminine also work well in this piece. We need more voices in Father’s mansion (like MTG) to say, “Enough. This is wrong!” The members of our collective American family in Minneapolis demonstrate what it means to stand together with our neighbors–whatever their skin color, country of origin, or beliefs. They, too, are our heroes.

Rosaliene, thank you for continuing to expose these heinous attacks. 🙏🏼 It could very well be any of us, just because of the way we look and who we are! No matter how it looks like they are winning, they aren’t! Karma really is a bitch as they say! 🤜🏼🤛🏼

We have to keep on doing our small part, Kym, by shining the light on their dark deeds. Father’s behavior is truly disturbing. He has to win at all costs to fill the emptiness within him.

Sadly Rosaliene, with all of that money and stealing power as he pleases, he is still an empty and pitiful creature. He’s like a drug addict gone wild and his enablers aren’t any better! 😣
