We raise our fists in protest to the heavens and pass laws in defense of life flowering in the womb yet think nothing of sacrificing that life to the gods of war.
Only when all life is sacred will we enjoy peace on Earth.
This Mother’s Day, I pay tribute to mothers worldwide who have fled violence and war-torn zones to save their children.

Does these women’s situations really never change, Rosaliene?

Martina, the situation of these mothers and their families only change when they are able to start a new life in another region within their country or in a foreign country. According to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) at the end of 2020 there were 82.4 million people worldwide who had been forcibly displaced as a result of persecution, conflict, violence, human rights violations, or events seriously disturbing public order.

It’s really awful what is happening to people around the world and women are especially vulnerable. I just listened a reportage about Afghanistan, their situation and that about 100’000 leave the country every month! It is high time that the involved politicians start speaking to each other in order to find a real compromise!

Thanks for sharing this info, Martina. The number of global refugees continue to increase each year. While Ukraine has taken over our news media here in the US, we have forgotten the women and children still suffering in Afghanistan.

I cannot say “no” to that, Claire, but mothers do have their limits when it comes to domestic and state violence and, worse still, when it comes to a full-blown war.

Happy Mothers Day!
This made me remember again the time quite a few years ago that I witness two lady ‘refugees’ here in London out begging with their children. On going to the barbershop door they were told off and chased away. The barbershop was run by their countrymen from their part of the middle east, yet they were very annoyed. I asked them, would they rather the women went and really prostituted themselves?
Here is to many mothers worldwide who truly love their children.

A Happy Mother’s Day to you, too! It cannot be easy for women from the Middle East to start a new life in a foreign western country after losing everything in their homeland. Worse yet, if they have lost their husbands and adult sons, since some Middle Eastern cultures prohibit the woman from working outside the home.

Oh, Rosaliene, you capture the terrible tragedy of choices that make no sense. How can anyone say they value life and children if they also tolerate war? This is so heartbreaking, but it must be in our faces over and over again until people mean what they say. ❤ ❤ ❤

Thank you for sharing!!… a belated Happy Mother’s day to you!.. your post once again shows the courage and strength of a mother that rarely gets recognition well deserved.. and there are Moms who face challenges, and sometimes danger, in some form or other and they are supposedly in a peaceful environment…they too do not get the recognition well deserved!… 🙂
Hope all is well in your part of the universe and until we meet again…
May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life’s passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!
