Corporate greed, Economy & Life, Free Market Capitalism, Government, Soul of a Nation Poem by Rosaliene Bacchus
HE craves adulation
Look only at me, he tweets
I am a billionaire
I am the god you seek
HE makes men great again
White supremacists rise up with glee
All I want is loyalty
Have no other god but me
HE warps facts with lies
To create an alternate reality
Believe only in me
I am the truth & light
HE loves the art of the deal
Money trumps life & Mother Earth
I make the world go ‘round
I am the god of greed
Soul of a nation
Laid bare in a cold-cold shell
Heart of Hefner & Weinstein
Only the flag & guns sacred
In Las Vegas on a killing spree
The dogs of the free market set free

The free, free market would be bad enough. Now government sites are being wiped of truth about the environment, the health law, etc. But, finally, a name for him has been offered by Winston Churchill’s grandson, “Daft Twerp.” Thanks, Rosaliene, for capturing a man(?) in verse.

Deeply disturbing, Dr. Stein. On my recent visit to the NOAA website, I noticed the way they’ve whitewashed the info provided.
“Daft Twerp,” indeed! It doesn’t seem to bother him that he has weakened our position with our closest and loyal ally.

You’ve said it all Rosaliene. Our only hope is the cabinet excersing its power to remove him. Beautiful graphics, thanks for the Tony Mafia link-inspiring work.

Thanks, Mike. I’m not hopeful that his removal will bring about any meaningful change in the direction of our country. Corporate power brokers are already holding top positions in critical government agencies. A President Pence will strangle women – millions of whom head households across our nation – even more with extremist religious laws.

With this latest extreme push to the “Right” Americans have put themselves in a no-win situation, between a rock and a hard place. Maybe that’s karma because that is what “America” has been doing to much of the Third World and its own natives and ex-slaves for a long time; what it is still increasingly doing abroad and at home. The evil you do, or allow to be done unto others must eventually return upon your own head. Millions of Americans haven’t caught on yet, even when they feel confused; are jobless; dispossessed; homeless. They don’t know the lessons of history plus they’ve never realized their nameless “nation” was a front for a massive, bloody militarily-driven and maintained empire. Many now think of Trump as an anomaly. Well, “f’n crazy or not, Trump and perhaps Pence, are the inevitable fallout, They are the mirror on the wall that cannot lie. The downfall is certain and picking up speed exponentially. Nuclear conflict? More than likely. The “miracle” now would be that it didn’t happen.

I agree, Sha’Tara. The US has an immense karmic debt – at home and abroad. It’s hard to take a look at that mirror on the wall. After living the BIG LIE for generations, it’s difficult to awaken to the truth of who we are as a nation.

Rosaliene, you capture the anguish of many. Last stanza – wonderful conclusion to poem. A message that may, hopefully, sink in – for those who don’t yet get it.

Thanks, JoAnn. There are times when the poetic form is the only means possible to express my anguish. Through the title of my poem, I hope to draw readers to its message. If we fail to see that Trump is the embodiment of the moral corrosion at the core of our nation, all our internal divisions and external threats of “fire and fury” will not make America great again.

Thank you from the depths of my soul for this spirited poem. It expresses exactly how I feel in these perverse, perverted and dreadfully delicate times, it doesn’t lessen the pain to know that these events are fully explicable.
So your words buoy my spirit more than you can know. So I need to let you know. 🙂

Another comment (sorry!) but I had a vivid dream last night. In a country town community hall meeting room and the guest speaker was… Donald Trump himself. He was so, so real. He spoke to us – must have been maybe 50 people in the room, as if he was addressing the UN, no personal sense of him. He went on and on about his “wonderfulness” and great accomplishments. My friend challenged him on a couple of occasions to stop talking and allow a question period: never happened. Interestingly, in the middle of his rant he stopped and had to go to the washroom to wash his hands(!?!?!) When he returned, he started his bragging again, then the dream ended. I think that summarizes all there is to know of DT. If one compares DT to a bonfire, the bonfire turned into a wildfire. Wildfires aren’t only unpredictable, they do a lot of damage before they are extinguished, usually by nature rather than by man.

Good point, Rosaliene. I just returned from a first foray of volunteer venture in rebuilding a home after the wildfires in the “Caribou” country, about 300 miles north of here and I can’t stop thinking about the foolishness of man and what appears to be the futility of “H-is” civilization (it is, after all, a male invention!). Trillions of dollars spent on armaments and the killing of people, and hardly anything available to respond humanely to the ravages of nature. Adding insult to injury, those who could respond refuse to acknowledge the cause of these natural catastrophes. So, not surprisingly for a dreamer, one of the main current architects of this social dissociation shows up in a dream to remind me to keep working on solutions, however inapplicable to the current state of affairs in man’s world of powers. So it is more than a “Trump infection” – it is a driving force to, simply put, fix things while avoiding all the tried and failed previous attempts.

Sha’Tara, your volunteer work is admirable. You have found a way to “fix things,” as we all must with each new ecological disaster.
I used the word “infection” because HE makes it impossible to ignore him, much like catching a cold during the flu season.

“like catching a cold during flu season” – a perfect analogy! Yes, and even when we have a cold, don’t we have to carry on with work, or chores, feed the kids, whatever? Same under his sickening politicking. Thanks!
