For an outsider, Jill Stein is very articulate and no newcomer to fighting our corrupt political system. Loved her response to why she is qualified to become America’s next president.

Dr. Stein was gracious and remarkably steady in the face of her critic’s bad manners. I’d like to know whether the numbers add up on her economic projections. Has there been an independent assessment of the financial costs and benefits of her policies? That is, whether she can pay for what she promises? I am troubled by her lack of political experience, though she has a superb resume. I wouldn’t opt to be the first patient of any surgeon, though this is what we are offered in Jill Stein (no relation) and Mr. Trump. I like the vision of what she’d like to accomplish, but am concerned about a too severe reduction in the military. Finally, given the reality of her prospects, I’d hate for her to be a spoiler allowing Mr. Trump a road to the White House. Still, she is admirable in many ways. Thanks for posting this, Rosaliene.

Sorry, Dr. Stein, I don’t have answers to your questions. If given a chance to participate in the presidential debates, she would have to address these important issues.

Thanks, Rosaliene. One more thought. One of the common features of political campaigns is the belief in some sort of near-perfection in one’s own candidate in contrast with the complete worthlessness of the other (or others). Mr. Trump’s supporters (some of them) call Secretary Clinton a liar and visa versa, in seeming disbelief of the evidence of lying on both sides. Meanwhile, the untested are thought to be miracle workers because they have not yet had the chance to fail. We must have heroes and villains, it seems, no matter what.

~ So true, Dr. Stein. I guess this attitude helps to validate our decisions and actions. Consider the way we demonize our enemies, whether they be ISIS, the Russians, or whoever we decide present a threat to our interests.
