Note from BW of Brazil: Once again, another protest and once again Brazil shows how divided it is really is along lines of race and class. Just for the sake of context, if you haven’t already…
Protest against president again features nearly all-white upper-middle class displays of racism, desire to protect status and putting ‘have nots’ back in their place

Rosalienne… it’s not that I haven’t been aware about “racismo” and white or elite privilege throughout the world . For an upcoming blogpost I have been looking back to the 1/2 year I was in Mexico in the early 90’s, with a stark reminder of class divisions. I appreciate this article on the Black Women of Brazil blog, because it reminds me that the chilling Trump-like demagoguery that you wrote about recently, isn’t an isolated event. I don’t find this a comfort, of course – rather it jerks me awake. Thank for this firm nudge – in peace and solidarity, Bruce

Thanks, Bruce. Mainstream media only gives us one side of the story: the narrative that best serves the powers that be.
I look forward to reading your upcoming blogpost.

Frighteningly reminiscent of the overthrow of Allende by the Pinochet fascists, Chile, 1972. Again, the CIA and American corporations were 100% behind that coup. When it comes to history, the more things change, the more they stay the same. Makes one wonder, considering how much information flows along the internet, and how fast, if “the Drumf” or his backers have plans to muzzle the freedom of expression on the Internet? Could be so easily done, and so many people rely on alternative media now for information.

Thanks for that reminder about history repeating itself, Sha’Tara.
With corporate mainstream media feeding us so much disinformation or lack of coverage of vital news, I now rely on a number of alternative media sources to stay abreast. We the people have to thwart any plans by Drumf and others like him “to muzzle the freedom of expression on the Internet.”
