Time is Running Out
Time is running out to transition to renewable energy, yet the most “relevant” people in power aren’t aware of the situation’s gravity. “Even people who go around saying, ‘We have a planet in peril,’ don’t get it. Until we’re aware of our future, we can’t deal with it.”
~ Dr. James Hansen, former NASA head climate scientist, now Adjunct Professor at Columbia University, at Grandparents Climate Action Day, Washington D.C., September 9, 2015.

Climate change is a bit like the proverbial story about frogs and hot water. It is said that if you put a frog in boiling water, it will jump out. However, placing him in tepid water and gradually increasing the temperature, we are advised he will cook.” We humans are so good at “adapting” that the climate change problem is easy to ignore.

It’s true, Dr. Stein, we humans have used our technological advancements to adapt to extreme heat and cold temperatures.
However, we can no longer ignore the extreme temperatures in winter and summer; drought and super storms; intense forest fires; and rising sea levels.
As areas and regions become inhabitable, mass migrations will become the norm. Perhaps that’s why The Donald wants to wall in the USA.

Dr. Stein provided a good analogy. The majority of people in power are behaving too complacent about the important issue of climate change. I guess they are waiting for the water to rise more before they start getting serious. I hope it won’t be too late.

Record Cold ‘Blob’ in North Atlantic: Sign of Future Climate Woes?
Some scientists are saying new data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration could point to weakening of a North Atlantic ocean current
by Sarah Lazare, staff writer – Common dreams
Some scientists are saying that a record-setting area of cold water in the North Atlantic, revealed by recent National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) data, could be a sign that climate change is causing the ocean current to weaken.
This trend could have dramatic consequences, including the alteration of temperatures on the European and North American continents.

Thanks for sharing, Cyril. Our energy bill has tripled in order to keep cool in the persistent high summer temperatures here in Los Angeles.
In our own lifetime, we’re in for a lot of unpleasant changes, not only in our weather but also our habitats.

Thanks for that referral, Bruce. I’ve added Hansen’s book to my List of Must Read Books. It gives me hope for the future of life on our planet that there are people like Hansen working towards ending our reckless use of fossil fuels.
